The fare table the calculator uses
| Distance slab | Normal day | Sunday / national holiday |
|---|---|---|
| 0 – 2 km | ₹11 | ₹11 |
| 2 – 5 km | ₹21 | ₹11 |
| 5 – 12 km | ₹32 | ₹21 |
| 12 – 21 km | ₹43 | ₹32 |
| 21 – 32 km | ₹54 | ₹43 |
| Above 32 km | ₹64 | ₹54 |
Why distance, not stations
The Delhi Metro charges by the distance travelled, so two journeys with the same number of stations can cost different amounts, and an interchange adds time but not money. That is why this page finds the shortest path over the track network instead of counting stops: counting stops would be easier to build and would quote the wrong fare every time a line bends.
Service hours by line
First and last scheduled departure on each line, computed from the DMRC GTFS timetable in this build (227 of 262 GTFS stops matched to the map). A station midway along a line sees its last train later than the terminal.
Showing the snapshot built into this page. Fetching downloads the current DMRC GTFS file and recomputes the times below.
| Line | First train | Last train |
|---|---|---|
| Red (1) | 05:25 | 00:13 (next day) |
| Yellow (2) | 05:21 | 01:13 (next day) |
| Blue (3/4) | 05:45 | 01:10 (next day) |

Source: DMRC GTFS via Delhi Open Transit Data (mirror). The snapshot predates some 2026 extensions, so a newly opened station can be missing — the station card says so instead of inventing a time. Sunday service is not in the snapshot. For the day you travel, checkdelhimetrorail.com or the DMRC app.
Travel essentials
- Token or QR: the fare table above. QR tickets bought in the DMRC app or partner apps are cheaper than tokens.
- Smart card / NCMC: 10% off every journey during peak hours and 20% off outside peak (before 08:00, 12:00–17:00, after 21:00), per DMRC’s National Common Mobility Card page.
- Sundays and national holidays: the lower slab applies to every ticket type.
- Children: free up to 90 cm tall when accompanied by an adult.
- Helpline: 155370, staffed around the clock for lost property and travel queries.
- Airport Express: separate fare table and separate smart-card rules — this page deliberately does not fold it into the slabs.
Questions
How is the fare calculated?
The shortest route by track distance is found between the two stations, then the distance picks a slab from DMRC’s table effective 25 August 2025: ₹11 up to 2 km, ₹21 up to 5, ₹32 up to 12, ₹43 up to 21, ₹54 up to 32, and ₹64 beyond. Interchanges do not add a charge; only distance does.
Why might DMRC charge a different amount?
Two reasons. Distances here are measured along OpenStreetMap track geometry, while DMRC measures its own route; a journey sitting right on a slab boundary can land on the other side. And this page shows the token fare — smart cards and QR tickets carry a discount, and Sunday and national-holiday slabs are lower.
Is the Airport Express Line included?
No. The Airport Express has its own fare table and its own distance-based pricing, so folding it into the standard slabs would produce a wrong number. It is excluded from the map and the calculator rather than guessed at.
Where does the network data come from?
OpenStreetMap’s Delhi Metro route relations — the ordered stops and the track geometry — under the ODbL licence, with the attribution kept on the page. DMRC publishes the fare table but no machine-readable network file, so the geometry comes from OSM and the prices from DMRC.
What time does the metro open and close?
The table below is computed from the DMRC GTFS timetable that ships with the page — not typed in by hand. It shows the first and last scheduled departure on each line for the Mon–Sat service in that snapshot; a station midway along a line sees the last train later than the terminal, and several lines run past midnight. The snapshot carries no separate Sunday trips, so Sunday times are not guessed here: check the DMRC app or the station display for a late Sunday journey.
Where do I change lines?
The result lists the changes in order: the line to board, the station where it ends for you, the line to switch to, and the station where you arrive. The route is the shortest by track distance, which is what the fare is based on; if two routes are close, DMRC charges the distance you actually travel, so a route with fewer changes can cost the same or one slab more.
Does the page track my journey?
No. The station list and the graph ship with the page, and the calculation happens in the browser. There is no account, no request when you change a station, and nothing stored.
