Short answer: add the photo and the panel is already set to 200 × 230 px with a 50 KB cap in Crop mode. Export JPEG for photographs — a PNG at the same pixels is usually larger and can miss the cap even though the dimensions are right. Check the face is centred, export, and confirm the downloaded file reports 200 × 230 px and a size inside your form's allowed range.
What 200 × 230 actually means
It is a portrait box with a 20:23 ratio — slightly taller than a square. A phone photo is usually 3:4 or 9:16, so something has to give: Crop trims the sides and fills the frame, Contain keeps every pixel and adds bars, Stretch distorts. For an ID-style photo, Crop with the face centred looks right; for a document photo, Contain avoids cutting anything.
Pixels and kilobytes are two different limits
- 200 × 230 px is the shape and the pixel count the portal checks.
- 50 KB is how many bytes the file may occupy. A correctly sized photo can still be 120 KB at high quality, which is why the cap is applied after resizing.
- Both must pass. A file that is 200 × 230 but 80 KB is rejected just as often as one that is 50 KB but 600 px wide.
If the upload still fails
- Re-open the downloaded file and check its properties, not the on-screen badge.
- Compare against the form's exact wording — some ask for 200 × 230, others 200 × 200.
- Try 48 KB if the portal counts 1 KB as 1,000 bytes.
- Keep JPEG for photos; PNG is fine only for graphics and transparency.
