Short answer: scan the signature on plain paper, add it here, and the panel already targets 140 × 60 px under 20 KB. Keep Contain so the full stroke survives, export as JPEG on white unless the portal asks for PNG, then open the downloaded file to check it.
Why forms ask for 140 × 60
It is a wide, thin box that matches the shape of a handwritten signature. At that size there are only 8,400 pixels, so the pen stroke must be dark and the background clean; a grey, low-contrast scan turns into a smudge after compression. Cropping tightly before resizing does more for legibility than any quality setting.
The 10–20 KB window
- 20 KB is a ceiling, and this page enforces it after resizing. Most rejections are for files above it.
- 10 KB can be a floor. Some portals refuse files that are too small. If yours does, start from a larger scan so the encoder has more detail to keep.
- Format matters. JPEG on white is the safe default; PNG keeps transparency but is often larger for the same signature.
No background removal, no stroke repair, no OCR — this tool resizes and re-encodes, and says so. Clean the scan before uploading if the paper is grey.
